Independents Week

Sure. You’re thinking I can’t spell and perhaps that does happen on occasion but not today. This 4th of July week is not only symbolic of our nation’s freedom but it’s a time for all Americans to celebrate the importance of our economic democracy by honoring the locally owned independent businesses.

Summer Solstice

It is the time of year when the sun’s rays are directly overhead at 23.5 degrees North of the equator providing the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and a signal that summer has begun. Gardens are blooming. School’s out. Turn on the sprinklers. Eat a popsicle.

My Wish for All of You

I’ve been trying to construct an appropriate holiday message. While the accepted thing is to garner a wish of Happy Holidays, it doesn’t fit my desire. I want something deeper and spiritual and more meaningful. One thing that has surprised me about readers of my blog is that you come from so many diverse backgrounds. You are Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Christian, Bahia, Buddhist, agnostic, and more. You are from France, Romania, Finland, Pakistan, Belgium, South Africa, Australia, Switzerland, England, Ireland, India, Canada, the U.S.A. and others. I love our differences and it causes one message to resonate with me in particular.
